Emily and Bisous

Emily is a Registered Counsellor with a BSc from Stellenbosch University, a BA Honours (cum laude) from UNISA, and an MSc (cum laude) from the University of Edinburgh. She is registered with the ASCHP and based in Cape Town. Emily works primarily within a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework* which is focused, evidence-based, and practical. The work is about understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact, and then making concrete changes where it counts.

Bisous is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier with a strong therapeutic presence and no formal registration. She's good at sitting with discomfort (mostly yours). She also strongly believes in the clinical value of going outside.

*a note: because of my foreign qualification, registration with the HPCSA is still in progress. As such, I am not a registered psychologist in South Africa and cannot provide psychotherapy sessions. For now, the counselling work I do is informed by CBT but not complete CBT work and not funded by medical aids.
